Reply with quote | #1 | The Euterpédia Brasil website is IMHO is sharp as....Well, Josephine Baker on stage in France in the twenties, killin em. The site has the look and feel as if a master Web Designer/Developer with the transcription skills of a technical writer, programmed it.
Now if this is just the first, Beta version, wow. Everyone should open it up and take a peak. Oh and I did try to 'down load' some of my Brazilian mp3's, right where it says, Adicinar musica. I think that is a music down loader for music from the EB website to the users computer. I don't know, I'm still playing with it.
If your are Portuguese challenged, don't worry, still give it a shot. If I can use the site anyone can, and it will help in your learning process of Portuguese and the beautiful music of Brazil. Nice.

The site looks good and performs well because millions of dollars were spent on its programming! Here's the story...
I paid thousands of reais to a Brazilian and a group of Indian programmers, and the results were a mess and the project wasn't nearly finished...barely begun as a matter of fact. I really wanted to get a musical clearinghouse going but the costs of top programmers were, for me, prohibitive (by far). I'd heard about a company called "Ning", but didn't want a one-size-fits-all pre-programmed service.
So recently, just to waste some time, I had a look at Ning, and it wasn't at all what I had disparagingly imagined. One of the owners is Marc Andreessen, founder of Netscape, and the service can be crafted to a great degree to fit one's needs.
It's lacking one thing extremely important to me, something which my original Euterpedia had before Facebook (!), and that's a follow-as-a-fan function. I want people, particularly musicians, to be able to recommend other musicians, creating a trail of musical discovery. Hopefully that will be instituted, and if not, Ning allows for independent programming.
But in the meantime, beyond Euterpédia looking good and performing well, it also -- thanks to the musicians on there -- sounds good!
A note about the name: Euterpe is the Greek muse of music. The derivation of the "dia" is obvious. Strange, but I (for one, anyway) like it!
